If you start this up, there’s a huge possibility that you’ll never, never, never stop. No need to paint it black either, because the car is immaculate as it is. In case you need a bit of a refresher, those are lyrics to some of The Rolling Stones‘ hits (Start It Up and Paint It Black). That intro is need because Keith Richards’ 1972 Ferrari Dino is going into auction. Come May 9, 2014, Coys of Kensington will be showcasing several classic cars, including this lot at the Legende et Passion Auction in Monaco. This is a Ferrari Dino 246 that was first owned by the legendary Stones guitarist. Purchased new in California back in February 1972, Keith chose the subtle ‘Argento’ (silver) color for the car. While there have been mixed feelings for the Dino before, enthusiasts are now realizing the value of this model. Carrying a 2.4L V6, this was the first mid-engine Ferrari. And it was named after the late son of Enzo Ferrari, Alfredo or Alfredino. This particular Dino crossed the Atlantic when Keith Richards decided that he liked the car so much, he had to ship it to England. It was then passed to a Japanese collector who kept the pristine condition. Because of the car’s heritage and prestige, it’s being offered without reserve. Expect it to fetch a handsome price though we suspect you’ll get enough Satisfaction if you get it. $TBD.
