Watch models inspired by automobiles are nothing new. We’ve seen plenty of those examples but very few can be as special as this one. The Pininfarina design house has penned some of the most iconic Ferrari road cars. Their latest concept, the ‘Sergio‘ is probably the most extreme. In honor of the car, Bovet by Pininfarina is releasing a limited number of the Sergio Split-Second Chronograph. Taking the first name of the genius behind the 365GTB4 Daytona and the astonishing Testarossa, this watch is simply a visual delight. The four-segment watchface features a small-second display plus a 30-minute counter divided into two halves. A power reserve indicator sits by the right side while directly opposite it is the iconic ‘Pininfarina‘ signature. The primary hands displaying the hours, minutes and seconds have a slim profile, to keep the minimalistic look. On the outer rim of the dial, there’s a tachymeter scale as well. An in-house Bovet caliber 13BA08R Swiss automatic movement provides the power for the Sergio. The style is taken straight from the Amadeo line of convertible watches. Housing everything is a shotblasted stainless steel case with DLC that’s 45mm wide. Double sapphire crystals mean the watch is up for a physical challenge. Only 250 samples of the Sergio would be made and every single one should be a treasure. $TBD.
